On July 11, 2018, the Canadian Ministry of Health issued an amendment to the Toy Safety Regulation (SOR/2011-17) in an official communique, which will take effect six months later. In the meantime, the current regulations will continue to apply to all toys sold, advertised, imported or manufactured in Canada. The provisions of the Consumer Product Safety Act of Canada (CCPSA) regarding hazards to human health or safety will continue to apply to dangerous magnetic toys.
The main amendments include:
1. increase the definition of some products and the applicable age range of toys.
2.. Thirty-seventh instead of 10 mm with 10 mm (3/8 inch), 44.5 N (10 pounds) was used instead of 44.5 N.
3. delete thirty-eighth (3).
4. new safety, warning words and testing methods for magnetic toys.
5. Amend Schedule 1 to add Schedule 9 "Testing methods for completeness and components of magnetic toys" and Schedule 10 "Testing methods for magnetic flux indices".
